Sheril Antonio has been taking photographs since she was in her teens. Over the past 10 years she has been working with both digital and analog cameras and in 2009 she published her first photographs in conjunction with an article for Black Camera.
Her latest works were taken with her Blackberry. Its lens began as a convenience then evolved into more fascinating issues of color, design, and texture. The latest series “Distortions” combines the impulsive spontaneity that the Blackberry provides, while using its photographic capabilities to a specific end: a less than perfect image that is both limiting yet all encompassing simultaneously.
Currently showing at the Members Show- Guild Hall is “Parked on Main St Sag Harbor” which is from the Distortions series. Her work is now being offered for sale at IN HOME, Sag Harbor and will be appearing throughout the year at Ashawagh Hall, East Hampton.
