Ernst Lurker is the founder of the international PlayArt movement. The city of Berlin established plans and funding to create a Museum of PlayArt. However, due to the global financial crisis, the project was postponed indefinitely. Most of Lurker’s PlayArt objects are sold in museum shops, seven of which were commissioned by MoMA. While play is facilitated when these sculptures are small-scale, it is also possible to enlarge them. The Munich Olympics commissioned many enlargements by numerous PlayArt artists, including Ernst Lurker. The illustrations show potential large-scale concepts, except the last one which was an actual installation during a one-man show in New York.
